Diagnosis: Planta praecox, ab subspecie typica lobis labelli lateralibus acute cornutis differt. Sepala albida vel rosea, raro ex roseo viridescentia. Petala rubra vel rubiginosa. Labellum velutinosum, atropurpureum, trilobum, lobis lateralibus patentibus, acute cornutis. Cornua ad anticum-extrorsum spectantia, interne glabra et saepe pallidiora. Speculum ab basi labelli plerumque disjuncta, lobos laterales non attingens, ex lineis albis irregularibus saepe maculas caesias vel violaceas includentibus constans. Cavitas stigmatica late transverse elliptica, alba, linea transversalis atra supra gibbos basales et altera linea caerulea vel violacea interdum interrupta inter gibbos basales ornata.
